Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Milton Vessey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spoon McGinty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Milton Vessey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Spoon McGinty! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vessey throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McGinty sees it coming and avoids it easily. Vessey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McGinty avoids it really well and circles away. McGinty lands with a right hand. Vessey takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
McGinty takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. McGinty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McGinty tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vessey was well out of range. Poor timing from McGinty. McGinty throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McGinty throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Spoon McGinty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McGinty scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Vessey throws a nice looking combination but McGinty bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. McGinty takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. McGinty lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vessey circles away quickly and effectively. McGinty throws out a loose jab but Vessey uses good head movement to avoid it. McGinty takes a body punch but keeps moving. Vessey misses with a wild body shot. Vessey throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vessey lands an overhand right. McGinty ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Vessey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McGinty. Vessey misses with a takedown attempt - McGinty sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Vessey shoots in but McGinty avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Milton Vessey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vessey keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

and Vessey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. McGinty throws a combination that misses and Vessey counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vessey. Vessey looking to pass the guard. Vessey won't allow McGinty to get back to his feet.

Vessey lands strikes from half guard. Vessey is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McGinty doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vessey. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGinty tries to kick Vessey off but Vessey keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Vessey is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McGinty kicks Vessey off and gets back to his feet. Decent striking displayed by Vessey there. McGinty swings and misses with a shot to the body and Vessey counters with a nice uppercut. A combination from McGinty does no damage.

and Vessey makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. McGinty walks into a jab. Vessey lands a nice hook to McGinty's body. McGinty takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. McGinty throws a combination that misses enabling Vessey to counter with a crisp jab. Vessey on the wrong end of a nice hook. McGinty takes one to the side of the head.
Vessey closes the distance and clinches up with McGinty, looking for a takedown. Vessey pushes McGinty against the cage but McGinty circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McGinty misses with a combination
and Vessey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. McGinty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McGinty scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Vessey doesn't seem bothered though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McGinty throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Vessey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nice shot lands for McGinty. Vessey shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McGinty is breathing heavily. McGinty misses with a looping right. A jab lands there for Vessey. Vessey lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vessey lands with a hook. McGinty tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Vessey throws out a powerful jab. McGinty waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vessey. McGinty takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Vessey tries for a takedown but McGinty sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McGinty has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Spoon McGinty is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McGinty with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Vessey to score with a decent uppercut. Vessey bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. McGinty falls off balance throwing a combination
and Vessey counters with a straight right hand. McGinty has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. McGinty rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vessey moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McGinty bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. McGinty throws a series of punches but Vessey moves out of range. Vessey fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McGinty looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Vessey dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Vessey throws out a powerful jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vessey takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. This has been an exciting period of action! Vessey scores with a jab to the jaw. McGinty throws a left and a right that both miss
and Vessey counters with a nice double leg into guard. Vessey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGinty swivels though and keeps the full guard. Vessey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Vessey thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Vessey drops back looking for a leg! McGinty is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McGinty manages to kick Vessey off! Vessey jumps back into McGinty's guard. Vessey gets to his feet. McGinty looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Vessey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McGinty throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Milton Vessey is winning the standup battle so far. McGinty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vessey. Vessey lands the left hand. McGinty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vessey. Spoon McGinty is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Vessey throws a big shot that misses. McGinty misses the body punch and McGinty takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Vessey lands a head shot.

He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Vessey seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and McGinty has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Vessey is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McGinty's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Milton Vessey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vessey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. McGinty stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Vessey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vessey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Vessey goes for an armbar but he's not got it… McGinty turns into him and now he's in Vessey's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Spoon McGinty has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Vessey has his foot on McGinty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGinty works his way back into a safe position though. Vessey is trying to control the position but McGinty postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Milton Vessey showed his dominance in that final round. Well Vessey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
