PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Luhtanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amanda Skott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Benjamin Luhtanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Amanda Skott!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luhtanen misses with a double jab.

Skott takes the fight into the clinch.
Skott tries a knee to the head but Luhtanen blocks it.
Luhtanen is trying to force a seperation but Skott has the dominant position.

Skott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Luhtanen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Skott.

Luhtanen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Skott was covering up waiting for the punch and Luhtanen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Luhtanen wants to control from the top but Skott keeps moving.
Skott has control of Luhtanen's left arm, preventing Luhtanen from doing any damage.
Luhtanen sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Skott keeping moving, preventing Luhtanen from controlling successfully.
Luhtanen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Skott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Skott uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Skott has managed to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Luhtanen looking for a takedown.

Skott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Luhtanen looks to score with a jab to the body but Skott is just out of range.
Luhtanen scores with a leg kick.

Luhtanen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Skott looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Skott is looking to reverse the position.
Luhtanen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Skott keeps working.
Luhtanen working the head and body with strikes.
Luhtanen wants to control but Skott is keeping him busy.

Luhtanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Skott, who protects the arm well.
Luhtanen is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Skott struggling a bit here.

Luhtanen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Skott is looking to reverse the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
You can see the frustration on Skott's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Luhtanen tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Luhtanen is trying to ground and pound but Skott uses the momentary lack of control by Luhtanen to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benjamin Luhtanen dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Luhtanen throws a right and a left that Skott avoids nicely.

and Skott holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Skott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Skott throws a nice head kick!

Skott looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Skott is trying to control the action in half guard but Luhtanen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Skott slows the pace down in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Skott's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ground and pound from Skott.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luhtanen is looking for a sweep. Skott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Skott trying to control from half guard but Luhtanen is working away.
Skott with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Amanda Skott just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Luhtanen looks to land a combination but Skott avoids it well.

Skott instigates a clinch.
Skott drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Skott tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Luhtanen's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Luhtanen trying to stall but Skott improves his position.

Luhtanen successfully pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skott trying to control the position from guard on top but Luhtanen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Luhtanen is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Skott frees his head nicely. Oh but Luhtanen has switched to an armbar! Skott is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
