Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Duncan Gothia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Austin Ricketts!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gothia throws a nice looking combination but Ricketts bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gothia tries a head kick but it misses.
Ricketts shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ricketts misses with a head kick.
Gothia shoots for a double leg takedown but Ricketts sprawls well. He's pushed Gothia's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gothia with a poor takedown
and Ricketts counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gothia's guard now.
Ricketts postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ricketts stands and steps away. Gothia gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Gothia moves into the clinch successfully.
Ricketts is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gothia is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ricketts to the mat. Ricketts regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ricketts is trying to control the position from the bottom.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ricketts holds on and takes a little breather.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ricketts is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gothia is controlling him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gothia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ricketts on the ground.
Ricketts might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gothia kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

and Gothia counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ricketts's guard now.
Ricketts pulls Gothia in close to prevent any damage.
Gothia is looking to stand up but Ricketts won't let him.
Gothia wants to pass the guard but Ricketts is keeping the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gothia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ricketts was covering up waiting for the punch and Gothia finishes the takedown easily into guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

You can see the frustration on Gothia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Gothia is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ricketts is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Gothia seems a little lost for a moment, as Ricketts dominates the positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Ricketts wants to clinch.

Gothia is pressed up against the cage. Ricketts has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gothia down to the mat. Gothia avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gothia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ricketts gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ricketts has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gothia avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Ricketts has Gothia pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gothia manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Duncan Gothia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Austin Ricketts.
Gothia decides to pull guard.
Gothia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ricketts manages to get himself to full guard.
Gothia gets to his feet. Ricketts looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Ricketts jumps guard and drags Gothia to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Ricketts can't keep his opponent in guard - Gothia advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ricketts has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gothia is working away from the top position though.
Gothia is looking for a kimura but Ricketts is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gothia to get the leverage.
Ricketts regains full guard. Nicely done.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ricketts has a closed guard, preventing Gothia from standing up.
