Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryo Hyabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Cruise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Christian Cruise is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruise throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cruise swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cruise throws a one two combo.
Cruise defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hyabusa.

Hyabusa tries to pull guard but Cruise won't allow it.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hyabusa has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hyabusa and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Cruise counters with a one-two to the body.

Hyabusa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cruise is fending him off so far but Hyabusa persists. Nope, Cruise circles away and we're back to standing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Cruise counters with a three punch combo that has Hyabusa backing up. Hyabusa nods at Cruise to acknowledge the strikes.

Hyabusa misses with a takedown
and Hyabusa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Cruise moves into the clinch.
Hyabusa tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hyabusa tries to pull guard but Cruise holds him up against the cage and eventually Hyabusa drops back down to his feet.

Cruise looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Cruise creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hyabusa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Cruise's efforts to push away.

Cruise throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hyabusa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Cruise's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Cruise duly obliges.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cruise throws a front kick aimed at Hyabusa's knee but Hyabusa avoids it well.
A nice inside leg kick there by Cruise. That's going to slow Hyabusa down.

Hyabusa closes the distance but Cruise moves to the side
and Cruise counters with a head kick. That will keep Hyabusa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Cruise moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Christian Cruise showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cruise will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cruise lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Cruise does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

A frustrated look appears on Cruise's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Hyabusa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cruise avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
