Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hideaki Katsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baki Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hideaki Katsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Baki Balboa!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katsu slips a straight right by Balboa.
Balboa shoots in for a takedown but Katsu shows good takedown defense.
Balboa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Katsu was well out of range. Poor timing from Balboa.
A slow jab from Balboa misses its intended target.
Balboa throws a shot from downtown. Katsu moves away and avoids it.
Balboa throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Balboa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Katsu swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Katsu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Balboa.
Katsu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Balboa.
Katsu uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Balboa.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hideaki Katsu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baki Balboa.
Katsu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Katsu shoots for a takedown but Balboa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Katsu looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Balboa is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Balboa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Katsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Katsu throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Katsu moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Balboa has worked his arm free - good work by Balboa!

Balboa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Katsu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Katsu won't let Balboa get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Balboa is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Katsu has taken his back.

Balboa is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Katsu misses with an elbow to the head.
Katsu gets his hands free as Balboa looks to control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Katsu lands a shot to the body.

Balboa is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Balboa throws a looping overhand right but Katsu ducks down to avoid it.
Balboa stuffs the takedown.
Katsu shoots in and drives through. Balboa sprawls well.
Balboa looks to land a right hand but Katsu moved out of range.
Balboa might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Balboa throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Balboa connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hideaki Katsu dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Balboa swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Katsu circles away from the clinch attempt.
Katsu tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Balboa swivels and escapes.
Balboa scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Balboa scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Katsu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Balboa's guard.
Balboa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Balboa pushes Katsu off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Balboa is breathing heavily.

Balboa is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Katsu is controlling him well.
Katsu creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Balboa sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Katsu has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Balboa is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Katsu yanks on the arm and Balboa is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Katsu.
