Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Goldstein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas The Spider! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Spider is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Goldstein. The Spider with a poor takedown and Goldstein counters with a single leg into guard. The Spider didn't expect that. Goldstein wants to pass the guard but The Spider is keeping the position. The Spider wants to stand but Goldstein is controlling the position. The Spider throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Goldstein is stalling in the full guard. Goldstein pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. The Spider is keeping the position for now. Goldstein controls from within his opponent's guard. The Spider wants to sweep here but Goldstein controlling him for the moment. The Spider is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Goldstein shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says The Spider as he avoids it easily. Goldstein has his takedown stuffed and The Spider counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Goldstein's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Goldstein. That's going to take a lot out of him. Goldstein looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The Spider preventing the sweep. The Spider is looking to work some ground and pound but Goldstein has wrist control. The Spider would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Goldstein is trying to keep The Spider in close.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Goldstein throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Spider's waist but The Spider gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Goldstein off to one side. Lucas The Spider seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Goldstein fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Goldstein is breathing heavily. The Spider shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than The Spider was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The Spider putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! The Spider controlling his opponent. Goldstein working to try and regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goldstein tries to hold on but The Spider postures up. Goldstein is desperately trying to improve his position but The Spider has a good base and remains in mount. The Spider sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Goldstein keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goldstein is working hard here to advance position. A nice elbow there by The Spider. Goldstein is working to get back to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The Spider with good strikes from the mount here! Goldstein working to try and regain half guard.
The Spider has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Goldstein is squirming around, avoiding The Spider's attempts to control the action. Goldstein is looking to get to half guard. The Spider stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Goldstein is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in The Spider's half guard. The Spider trying to control but Goldstein postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Spider is not content to let Goldstein control the position. The Spider moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Goldstein trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Goldstein stops The Spider from standing up. The Spider looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Goldstein is defending well. The Spider quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Goldstein has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! The Spider celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
