PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Uriah Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John McManus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heath kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Asche zu Asche. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uriah Heath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John McManus!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McManus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Heath to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McManus tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heath got a little sloppy there for a moment and McManus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Heath has managed to get both his arms back between McManus's legs - danger averted.
McManus wants to get back to his feet but Heath is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Heath takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McManus is desperately trying to improve his position but Heath has a good base and remains in mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McManus is in all sorts of trouble here.

Heath is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McManus can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Heath has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Heath tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

McManus throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Uriah Heath is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Uriah Heath overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Heath, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
