Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Sambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Sambo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Souza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Sambo! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Souza ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Souza shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. A nice elbow there by Souza. Sambo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Souza wants to control the pace but Sambo is squirming around nicely. Sambo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Souza trying to control but he's not successful this time. Souza has hold of Sambo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sambo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Souza looking for a guillotine from mount but Sambo is having none of it. Souza swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Sambo is now in Souza's guard. A big mistake from Souza there, giving up the dominant position! Souza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sambo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sambo wants to control from the top but Souza keeps moving. Sambo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sambo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Souza had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sambo defends it easily. Sambo passes into half guard. Souza is breathing heavily. Sambo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Souza doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sambo. Sambo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Souza defend it? Sambo steps over the head and cranks it - Souza is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sambo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Sambo!
