PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brett Yarris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ytlear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yarris comes into the arena with Land Down Under blaring out of the sound system. Ytlear has chosen Necrophobic - The Third Antichrist as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Yarris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Ytlear!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ytlear changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yarris tries to avoid it but Ytlear manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yarris to the ground. Yarris escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ytlear tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
The fighters circling - Yarris throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Yarris displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ytlear.
Yarris will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ytlear shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yarris pinned against the cage. Yarris gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brett Yarris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Ytlear.
Yarris circles away from the clinch attempt.

Yarris gets caught flat footed, as Ytlear shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Yarris moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Yarris throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ytlear sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ytlear ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Yarris scores with a one two! Ytlear had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Yarris is breathing heavily.
Yarris thows a body shot but no joy.

Yarris lands a left and a right that send Ytlear crashing to the mat, dazed. Yarris thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Ytlear is looking to clinch but Yarris is avoiding it.
Yarris throws a hook but Ytlear blocks it.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Brett Yarris is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ytlear is trying hard to land a takedown here. Yarris sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

You get the feeling that Yarris really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Yarris is squirming around, avoiding Ytlear's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Brett Yarris will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yarris swings wildly with an uppercut but Ytlear uses good head movement to avoid it.
Yarris lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Ytlear jumps guard but Yarris stands there with Ytlear around his waist. Ytlear gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ytlear jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yarris walks away with a smile on his face. Ytlear gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to James Ytlear.
I think Ytlear has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
