PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tragic Tinkelbery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glenn Archer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tragic Tinkelbery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glenn Archer!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archer dives in and grabs Tinkelbery's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tinkelbery pushes down on Archer's head and hops out.
Archer fails with a takedown attempt.
Archer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tragic Tinkelbery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glenn Archer.
Tinkelbery rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Archer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Glenn Archer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tinkelbery ducks under a wild hook from Archer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Archer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Archer just misses with a punch to the body.

Archer misses with a straight left.
Archer fails with a takedown attempt.
Tinkelbery throws a quick inside leg kick.
Archer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tinkelbery tries to avoid it but Archer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tinkelbery to the ground. Tinkelbery escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Archer.
Tinkelbery throws a front kick aimed at Archer's knee but Archer avoids it well.
Tinkelbery lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Some bone on bone action there as Tinkelbery checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Tinkelbery misses with a few strikes there.
Tinkelbery stalks Archer and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Archer's face. Archer staggers backwards, shaken.
Archer shoots for a double leg takedown but Tinkelbery sprawls well. He's pushed Archer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tinkelbery scores with a one two! Archer had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Horrible takedown by Archer or perhaps it was just good defense by Tinkelbery which made him look bad.
Archer on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Tinkelbery. Tinkelbery obviously looking to wear him down.
Tinkelbery attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Tinkelbery lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Tinkelbery slips a jab from Archer.
Archer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tinkelbery sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Archer somewhat.
Archer has a takedown stuffed.
Archer looks gassed!
Archer chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tinkelbery can pounce on him.
Archer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tinkelbery as he avoids it easily.
Archer closes the distance and clinches up with Tinkelbery, looking for a takedown. Archer pushes Tinkelbery against the cage but Tinkelbery circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Tinkelbery.
Tinkelbery looks to land a combination. Archer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Tinkelbery scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Tinkelbery throws a nice looking combination but Archer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Archer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Archer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Archer won't let Tinkelbery get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tragic Tinkelbery dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Tinkelbery tries to work over Archer's front leg with a kick but Archer checks it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Archer is defended easily by Tinkelbery.
Tinkelbery moves out of range as Archer strikes.
Archer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tinkelbery goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Archer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tragic Tinkelbery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glenn Archer.

Archer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tinkelbery is trying to defend but Archer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Archer is breathing heavily.

Tinkelbery trying to hold on to Archer's head to control him but Archer postures up.
Archer missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Well, if Archer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Archer uses his free foot to push down on Tinkelbery's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tinkelbery.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Glenn Archer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Tinkelbery stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tinkelbery wants it to stay on the feet.
Archer misses with a looping left.
Tinkelbery stuffs the takedown attempt from Archer. Archer gets slowly back to his feet.
Tragic Tinkelbery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glenn Archer.

Archer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Archer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tinkelbery napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Archer moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Archer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tinkelbery is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Archer asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Archer cracks Tinkelbery with a big elbow.
Archer tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Archer controls the position.
Tinkelbery stops Archer from passing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Archer in side control, throwing shots but Tinkelbery defends.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
You can see the frustration on Tinkelbery's face as Archer controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Glenn Archer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Archer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
