Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Van Dyke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rasheed Hussein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Van Dyke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rasheed Hussein!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Van Dyke gets the takedown into side control.
Hussein can't do much from the bottom here.

Van Dyke could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Van Dyke won't allow Hussein to get back to his feet.

Hussein pulls Van Dyke in to control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hussein keeps the fight on the outside.
Hussein fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Van Dyke throws a head kick that misses.

Hussein decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hussein wants to take a breather but Van Dyke is having none of it.

Van Dyke is not content to let Hussein control the position.

Van Dyke is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hussein is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Hussein counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hussein.

Van Dyke controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hussein pulls Van Dyke in close to prevent any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Van Dyke won't allow Hussein to get back to his feet.
Van Dyke wants to control from the top but Hussein keeps moving.
Van Dyke stands and throws Hussein's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Van Dyke wants to control but Hussein is keeping him busy.

Van Dyke is looking to clinch.
Hussein shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van Dyke but Van Dyke pushes him off and we're back to square one.
David Van Dyke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Van Dyke tries for a takedown but Hussein sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hussein avoids the head kick by Van Dyke.

and Hussein counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hussein is breathing heavily.
Hussein is refusing to be controlled, as Van Dyke sits in half guard.
Hussein is trying to get back to full guard.

Hussein fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Van Dyke tries for a takedown but Hussein circles away easily

so Hussein counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hussein sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Van Dyke's guard.
Well, if Hussein is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
It looks like Hussein is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Dyke is looking to improve his position.

Hussein scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Hussein stands up out of the half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Hussein closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Van Dyke wants to control but Hussein postures up.
Van Dyke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Van Dyke throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Hussein stops Van Dyke from getting back to his feet.

Van Dyke is looking to reverse the position.
Van Dyke is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hussein is controlling him well.
Van Dyke tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hussein presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Van Dyke is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Hussein has taken his back!

Van Dyke manages to reverse the position and now he's in Hussein's guard. Nice work there by Van Dyke.

Van Dyke throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hussein's waist but Hussein gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Van Dyke off to one side.

and Hussein decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Van Dyke's guard.

Van Dyke can't keep his opponent in guard - Hussein advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hussein looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Van Dyke is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hussein pulls his head out easily.

Van Dyke pushes Hussein off looking to stand but Hussein dives back in and keeps control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Van Dyke flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Hussein throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Rasheed Hussein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Van Dyke darts in trying to clinch

Hussein seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Van Dyke is holding on tight.

Hussein has the hooks in. Van Dyke is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Hussein is trying to stick to Van Dyke's back but Van Dyke is turning into Hussein. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hussein's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Van Dyke.

Rasheed Hussein has got the better of the ground game so far.
Van Dyke wants to control from the top but Hussein keeps moving.
Van Dyke seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Van Dyke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hussein to the mat! Hussein manages to get full guard.

Hussein is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hussein manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Van Dyke throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hussein shoots in but Van Dyke avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Van Dyke looks to score with a jab to the body but Hussein is just out of range.

Van Dyke closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hussein is trying to stand.
Van Dyke is stalling here. Hussein is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Van Dyke seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hussein has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Hussein won't allow Van Dyke to get back to his feet.
Van Dyke throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hussein is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hussein content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hussein wants to pass the guard but Van Dyke is keeping the position.
Van Dyke is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hussein won't allow Van Dyke to sweep him here.
Hussein not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Van Dyke closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hussein is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Van Dyke gets to his feet. Hussein looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

David Van Dyke showed his dominance in that final round.
