PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jayson Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Blair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jayson Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Blair!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blair tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gunn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Blair bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Blair in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gunn is looking for a sweep.
Gunn is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Blair has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Blair tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gunn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Blair somewhat.
Gunn shoots in but Blair avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Blair throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gunn's waist but Gunn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blair off to one side.

Gunn swings wildly with an uppercut but Blair uses good head movement to avoid it.

Gunn closes the distance but Blair moves to the side

and Blair holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Blair is pushing Gunn up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Blair has his foot on Gunn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gunn works his way back into a safe position though.
Blair is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Blair escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gunn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Blair has instead reached around Gunn's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Blair arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
