PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Jenkis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saiko Intervention (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jamal Jenkis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Saiko Intervention!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Intervention throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jenkis's waist but Jenkis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Intervention off to one side.
Jenkis shoots in for a double leg but Intervention sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Intervention misses with a looping right.
Intervention throws a big shot that misses.
Jenkis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Intervention misses the jab.

Jenkis moves into the clinch.

Jenkis works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jenkis showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Jenkis tries to free his leg and advance position but Intervention is retaining full guard.
Jenkis is pushing down on Intervention's leg trying to pass to half guard. Intervention is fighting to maintain full guard but Jenkis has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jenkis not doing much here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Intervention is looking to improve his position.
Intervention is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Intervention moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jenkis controlling from the top position.
Intervention tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jenkis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Jenkis stands and steps away. Intervention gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Intervention fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Jenkis moves into the clinch.

Jenkis drags the fight down to the ground.
Jenkis has control of Intervention's left arm, preventing Intervention from doing any damage.

Intervention is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jenkis is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jenkis has escaped and now he's on top!
Jenkis forces his way into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Jenkis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Intervention wants to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Intervention is staying active underneath Jenkis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jenkis is pressing down on Intervention's thigh, looking to free his foot. Intervention is holding on for now.
Intervention is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jenkis is working hard here to advance position.
Intervention gets full guard.
Intervention wants to hit a switch here but Jenkis passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Intervention there!
Jenkis works his way to his opponent's back.
Jenkis controlling from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamal Jenkis dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jenkis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jenkis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Intervention throws a combination that misses
and Jenkis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A telegraphed right hand from Jenkis misses the target.
Intervention bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jenkis's head.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Intervention, as that shot connected.
Jenkis fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jenkis misses with a two punch combination.
Intervention throws a right hand that Jenkis ducks under and follows up with a left that Jenkis also avoids with ease.
Intervention steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jenkis.
Intervention scores with a nice head shot.


Jenkis is rocked!
Intervention connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Jenkis out cold! This one is over in a flash!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Saiko Intervention!
