Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Markus Damage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and LeRoy Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Markus Damage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, LeRoy Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Bruno Lombardi and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damage doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.

Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Johnson showed some decent athleticism there.
Damage tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Johnson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Johnson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Johnson looking to control but Damage is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Damage tries to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.
Johnson trying to control but Damage is having none of it.
Damage tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.

Johnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Damage is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Johnson lands with some strikes.
Damage is desperately trying to improve his position but Johnson has a good base and remains in mount.
Damage is breathing heavily.
Johnson cracks Damage with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Damage has given up his back here.
Damage tries to escape the position.
Johnson softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Johnson patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Johnson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Damage.
Damage is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Damage is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Johnson.

Despite being in the dominant position, LeRoy Johnson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Johnson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Johnson.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson is pushing down on Damage's leg trying to pass to half guard. Damage is fighting to maintain full guard but Johnson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Damage is trying to stand up here but Johnson is controlling him well.

and Johnson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Damage's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Johnson slips nicely into half guard.
Johnson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Johnson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Johnson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Johnson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson blocks the strikes from Damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Damage throws a head kick that half lands.
Damage closes the distance looking to clinch

and Johnson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Damage's guard.

Damage looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
Damage wants to sweep but no luck.

Johnson stands up and waves to Damage to follow him.
Damage scores with a kick to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Damage doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control.

Damage can't do much from the bottom here.
Damage tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson tries to advance to mount but can't.
Damage is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Damage tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Johnson throws a right hand that Damage ducks under and follows up with a left that Damage also avoids with ease.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Damage tries to clinch up

and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Damage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Johnson is taking a breather. Damage says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Johnson is trying to work for a kimura but Damage is defending well.
Damage flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Johnson stands up out of the half guard.
Damage misses with a takedown

and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Damage didn't expect that.
Damage is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Damage is proving hard to escape from.

Johnson stands up from Damage's guard - Johnson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Johnson clinches.

Johnson jumps into guard, dragging Damage to the mat.
Damage has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Damage avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Damage is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Johnson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Johnson has escaped and now he's on top!
Damage has a closed guard, preventing Johnson from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

LeRoy Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Damage shoots and misses

Johnson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Johnson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Damage's face.
Johnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Johnson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Damage is looking to escape.
Damage can't escape the position.

Johnson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Damage is surviving well by controlling Johnson's body position as best he can.
Damage throws a strike but has given up his back in the process.
LeRoy Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Damage tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Damage gets back to half guard.
Damage regains full guard. Nicely done.

Johnson sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Johnson is in close to Damage's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Johnson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Johnson controls the position from side control.
Damage tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Johnson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Damage is looking to regain half guard here but Johnson keeps moving and retains side control.

Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
You can see the frustration on Damage's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Damage keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Damage gets the takedown into side control.
Damage wants to take a breather but Johnson manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Damage.
Damage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Johnson has a closed guard, preventing Damage from standing up.

Johnson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Damage throwing strikes but missing.
Johnson pulls Damage in close to his closed guard and prevents Damage from doing any damage or advancing position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Johnson takes the fight into the clinch.
Markus Damage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Johnson gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

LeRoy Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
