Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Cummings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Barrette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cummings throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cummings takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Cummings drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cummings trying to control but Barrette is working from the bottom.
Barrette has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Cummings loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Cummings postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Barrette is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Barrette or perhaps it was just good defense by Cummings which made him look bad.
Barrette shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cummings as he avoids it easily.

Nice takedown defense from Cummings. No joy for Barrette on that attempt.

Barrette fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cummings, pushing him back against the cage.
Barrette is pressed up against the cage. Cummings has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barrette down to the mat. Barrette avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cummings clinches but Barrette breaks the clinch
and Barrette counters with a thumping low kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barrette moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Marcus Cummings has been cut.

Barrette darts in and clinches Cummings up against the cage.

Barrette breaks the clinch.

Barrette scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Barrette controlling the pace.
Cummings wants to get back to his feet.
Barrette throwing shots but Cummings is blocking nicely.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Cummings kicks Barrette off and gets back to his feet.

Barrette closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Barrette lands in his opponent's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Barrette feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Barrette cracks Cummings with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Cummings tries to hold on but Barrette pushes him away.
Cummings is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Barrette has taken his back!
Barrette is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Marcus Cummings has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alexandre Barrette is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Will Barrette go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Well Barrette has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
