PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hinton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kai Ho was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scott Hinton!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kai Ho!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hinton showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ho.
Ho swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ho scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Scott Hinton has been cut.
Ho scores with a nice right hand.
Ho tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hinton was well out of range. Poor timing from Ho.
Ho misses with the combination.
Ho looks to land a combination. Hinton sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hinton scores with a takedown into Ho's guard.

Ho throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Ho working for a triangle but Hinton defends it easily.
Hinton stays in close to Ho's body and controls the position.

Ho looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hinton controlling from the top position.

Ho working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hinton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hinton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ho is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hinton defends well.
Hinton controls from within his opponent's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hinton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hinton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ho keeping moving, preventing Hinton from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hinton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hinton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hinton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hinton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ho manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hinton has Ho in his guard.
Hinton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hinton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ho sees it coming and defends easily.
Ho is trying to get back to full guard.
Hinton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ho keeps working.

Ho actively working from the bottom here.
Ho manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ho looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hinton is one step ahead there.

Ho is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hinton wants to control from the top but Ho keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ho has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hinton has passed into side control.
Hinton is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ho will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kai Ho dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Scott Hinton's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ho throws a good cross that connects.
Ho rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hinton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hinton is defended easily by Ho.
Ho tries to bum rush Hinton with a series of wild strikes but Hinton uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ho doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hinton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ho won't be happy with that.

Hinton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ho, who protects the arm well.
Hinton is looking to take a break and control but Ho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ho is trying to improve his position.

Hinton controlling the position from side mount.
Ho is not content to let Hinton control the position.
Ho is trying to get back to his feet.
Ho is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hinton's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Ho has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hinton is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ho is pressing down on Hinton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ho throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hinton escapes and throws Ho's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hinton is trying to get an arm triangle but Ho is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ho manages to get back to half guard.
Hinton looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ho manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Hinton is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ho is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ho has escaped and now he's on top!
Ho wants to pass the guard but Hinton is keeping the position.

Ho seems a little lost for a moment, as Hinton dominates the positioning.

Hinton is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Ho is trying to escape and Hinton transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Ho is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hinton! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Scott Hinton!
