Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Craun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hudson Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Craun's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Smoke That Kush. Hudson Hughes looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Craun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hudson Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Craun tries to clinch but Hughes is having none of it.
Craun throws a nice looking combination but Hughes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Craun wants to clinch.
Craun tries to clinch there but Hughes circles away.
Craun thows a body shot but no joy.

Craun tries to keep at a distance but Hughes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hughes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Craun smiles and moves away.
Matt Craun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Craun fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hughes avoids it really well and circles away.
Craun wants to clinch but Hughes slips to the side
and Craun takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Hughes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Craun pushes Hughes off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Hughes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hughes.
Craun manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hughes manages to get himself to full guard.
Craun has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Hughes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hughes is fighting to break Craun's control of his arms but Craun is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Craun pushes Hughes off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Craun clinches.
Hughes looking to stall.
Hughes tries to pull guard but Craun won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hudson Hughes dominated that round.

Craun scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Hughes is trying to maintain the position but Craun is very close to passing his half guard.
Craun perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Craun is trying to control the action in half guard but Hughes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Craun is thwarting Hughes's attempts to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Craun tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hughes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Craun looks to clinch

and Hughes moves into the clinch.
Craun jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hughes walks away with a smile on his face. Craun gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Craun pushes Hughes up against the cage in a clinch.
Hughes tries to pull guard but Craun holds him up against the cage and eventually Hughes drops back down to his feet.
Craun is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hughes - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Craun pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Craun fails with the takedown

and Hughes counters by clinching up.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Craun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hughes jumps guard.
Hughes wants to control the position but Craun says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Craun is looking to take a break and control but Hughes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hughes manages to get to full guard.
Craun sitting in guard here, content to control.

Craun is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hughes is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hughes has escaped and now he's on top!
Craun pulls Hughes in close to his closed guard and prevents Hughes from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hughes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Craun dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Craun wants to clinch

and Hughes counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Hughes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Craun can't escape the position.
Craun wants to control but Hughes is having none of it.

Craun squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Hughes with a couple of short strikes.
Craun is trying to escape the mount.

Hughes working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Hughes misses with a head shot.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Hughes has hold of Craun's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Craun manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hughes throwing strikes but Craun recovers to half guard. A much better position.
Hughes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Craun is trying to control but can't.
Craun desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Hughes stops Craun from getting back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Craun throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily.

Hughes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hughes manages to pull guard.
Craun is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hughes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Craun is one step ahead there.

Hughes throws his legs up looking for a submission but Craun uses it to pass to side control.

Hughes tries to reverse the position but Craun maintains control.

Hughes tries to lock up and control but Craun gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hughes is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hughes is bucking up trying to escape but Craun cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hudson Hughes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hughes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
