Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mariusz Kosawudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomez comes to the cage accompanied by Something in your Mouth. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Gomez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mariusz Kosawudo! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kosawudo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Gomez can pounce on him.
Gomez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Kosawudo has Gomez up against the cage in a clinch.
Kosawudo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kosawudo manages to end up in side control. Kosawudo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Kosawudo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Gomez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kosawudo. Kosawudo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kosawudo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gomez defends it nicely. Rafael Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mariusz Kosawudo. Gomez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kosawudo fails with a takedown attempt. Kosawudo tries for a takedown but Gomez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Kosawudo throws a head kick that misses and Gomez counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kosawudo trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Kosawudo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kosawudo wants to sweep here but Gomez controlling him for the moment. Kosawudo keeping moving, preventing Gomez from controlling successfully. Kosawudo controls Gomez momentarily but Gomez frees himself. Kosawudo has his foot on Gomez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gomez works his way back into a safe position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kosawudo controlling the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kosawudo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kosawudo showed some decent athleticism there. Kosawudo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Kosawudo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Kosawudo working over Gomez with some ground and pound. Gomez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kosawudo trying to control from Gomez's half guard. Gomez has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kosawudo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gomez's guard. Gomez throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy. Kosawudo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gomez keeping full guard, as Kosawudo tries to pass. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mariusz Kosawudo dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Kosawudo shoots and misses and Gomez counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kosawudo thinking. Kosawudo closes the distance looking to clinch and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Kosawudo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gomez counters with a two punch combo. Kosawudo misses with a low kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kosawudo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kosawudo blocks a head kick by Gomez.
Kosawudo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mariusz Kosawudo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kosawudo misses with the body kick and Gomez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Kosawudo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kosawudo pulls Gomez in close to prevent any damage. Gomez postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kosawudo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gomez trying to control the position from guard on top but Kosawudo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gomez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A combination from Kosawudo does no damage. Gomez throws a head kick that Kosawudo semi-blocks.
Kosawudo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Gomez counters with a three punch combo that has Kosawudo backing up. Kosawudo nods at Gomez to acknowledge the strikes. Rafael Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mariusz Kosawudo. Gomez throws a nice outside leg kick. Gomez throws a head kick that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The fight stays on the outside here - Gomez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kosawudo misses with a takedown attempt and Gomez counters with an inside leg kick. Kosawudo fails with the takedown and Gomez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kosawudo won't be happy with that. Gomez has control of an arm but Kosawudo manages to advance to Gomez's back! Kosawudo doesn't have the hooks in and Gomez manages to turn into his guard.
Gomez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kosawudo is trying to keep Gomez in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rafael Gomez dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Kosawudo pushes Gomez up against the cage in a clinch. Gomez gets underhooks to prevent Kosawudo's takedown attempt.

Kosawudo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Rafael Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mariusz Kosawudo. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Gomez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Gomez counters by moving into the clinch. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomez is trying to force a seperation but Kosawudo has the dominant position. Kosawudo jumps guard but Gomez stands there with Kosawudo around his waist. Kosawudo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gomez tries to land knees in the clinch but Kosawudo avoids the damage to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gomez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kosawudo darts in trying to clinch and Gomez counters with an outside leg kick.
Kosawudo takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kosawudo misses with a kick to the body and Gomez counters with a series of strikes. Kosawudo will be more careful next time no doubt. Kosawudo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kosawudo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gomez sprawls well. Gomez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kosawudo gets slowly back to his feet. Gomez misses with a jab, cross combination.

Kosawudo is trying to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gomez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Rafael Gomez showed his dominance in that final round. Well Gomez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
