Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Albright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patterson comes to the cage accompanied by Ice Cream Paint Job. Albright has chosen Rascal Deep Down as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Albright!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Albright shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Patterson as he jumps to the side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Patterson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A left and a right from Patterson both land. Nice combination.
Patterson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Albright takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Albright avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab lands there for Patterson.
Albright misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Albright.
Derek Patterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Albright.

Patterson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Albright trying to remain calm as Patterson controls from the top position.
Patterson is looking to take a break and control but Albright is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Albright tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Albright keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Albright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Patterson trying to control the action but Albright is working from the bottom.
Albright is looking to reverse the position.
Albright is trying to escape the position but Patterson is controlling the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Patterson lands a nice hook to Albright's body. Albright takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Patterson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Patterson throws a low kick but Albright avoids it.
Patterson sizes up Albright with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Patterson tries to clinch but Albright moves out of range.

Albright gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Patterson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Albright is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Patterson defends well.

Albright is looking for a triangle but Patterson pushes his legs off easily.
Patterson wants to control from the top but Albright keeps moving.
Patterson controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Patterson throws a big right hand that misses.
Patterson content to stall in guard here.

Albright has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Patterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Patterson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Patterson controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Albright keeping moving, preventing Patterson from controlling successfully.

Albright looking for a guillotine here but Patterson defends easily.

Patterson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Albright to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Patterson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Albright pulls down on the head and he's put Patterson to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jimmy Albright!
