Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Lapierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andre Lapierre has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Lapierre!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Lapierre.
Turner misses with the combination.
Turner lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lapierre circles away quickly and effectively.
Turner fails to land with a series of punches.
Lapierre shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Turner defends it nicely.
A right-left combo lands from Turner.
Turner throws a right hand that Lapierre ducks under and follows up with a left that Lapierre also avoids with ease.

Turner moves into range and clinches up with Lapierre.
Turner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lapierre misses with a hook to the ribs.

Turner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Turner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lapierre.
Turner stuffs the takedown.
James Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Lapierre.
Lapierre fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Turner.
Turner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Turner misses with the combination.
Turner misses with a few strikes there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lapierre dives in and grabs Turner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Turner pushes down on Lapierre's head and hops out.
James Turner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lapierre fails to land the takedown.
Turner fails to land with a series of punches.
Turner swinging wilding here.
Turner stalks Lapierre and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lapierre's face. Lapierre staggers backwards, shaken.

Lapierre has Turner up against the cage in a clinch.
Lapierre wants a takedown but no success here.
Turner has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Turner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lapierre closes this distance looking for a takedown but Turner circles away.
Turner wants to clinch but Lapierre slips to the side

and Lapierre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Turner's guard.
Lapierre looks gassed!
Lapierre missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Turner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lapierre has gone for a leg lock! Turner slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lapierre's guard.

Turner gets to his feet. Lapierre looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lapierre has managed to clinch.
Turner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lapierre has Turner pressed against the cage, preventing Turner from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Turner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Turner throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
James Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lapierre uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Turner.
Turner misses with a straight left.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lapierre is defended easily by Turner.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Turner throws a left and a right that both miss

and Lapierre counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lapierre postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lapierre throws a strike but Turner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Lapierre uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Turner throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lapierre shoots in but Turner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Turner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Turner lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Turner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lapierre.
A nice combination there by Turner.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lapierre dodges the punch combination from Turner.
Turner stuffs the takedown.
A combination from Turner does no damage.
Lapierre bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Lapierre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Turner wants to stand and escape but Lapierre is having none of it.
Turner working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lapierre.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lapierre postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Lapierre drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Turner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lapierre has Turner in his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lapierre pushes Turner off and scrambles back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Turner will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Turner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Lapierre shoots in for a takedown but Turner shows good takedown defense.

Lapierre shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Turner napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Turner is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Lapierre goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Turner rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lapierre's guard! Nice work there by Turner!
Lapierre is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Turner dives into side control.

Turner is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Lapierre looks calm but he's in trouble here. Turner gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Lapierre is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Turner lets go of the hold and Lapierre can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). James Turner!
