0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ian Bjornson! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slivers moves into range and clinches up with Bjornson. Slivers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bjornson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slivers lands a head kick. Bjornson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Ian Bjornson has been cut. Slivers shoots in and bounces Bjornson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Slivers wants to control from the top but Bjornson keeps moving. Slivers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bjornson on the ground. Slivers controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Slivers content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Slivers trying to control the position from guard on top but Bjornson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Slivers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bjornson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Slivers is controlling him. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Slivers's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Slivers is stalling in the full guard. Slivers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bjornson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Slivers is aware though and is defending well. Slivers wants to control from the top but Bjornson keeps moving. Bjornson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee stands the fighters back up. West Slivers just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Slivers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bjornson to the mat! Bjornson manages to get full guard. Slivers is looking to stand up but Bjornson won't let him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slivers lands a couple of digs. Slivers stopping the sweep attempt from Bjornson. Slivers wants to stand but Bjornson is controlling his posture from full guard. Bjornson has his foot on Slivers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Slivers works his way back into a safe position though. Slivers passes Bjornson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Slivers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Slivers wants to control from the top but Bjornson keeps moving. Slivers is stalling in the full guard.

West Slivers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bjornson with a poor takedown and Slivers counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Slivers. West Slivers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ian Bjornson. Slivers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Slivers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Slivers tries to free his leg and advance position but Bjornson is retaining full guard. Slivers stays in close to Bjornson's body and controls the position. Bjornson throws his legs up looking for a submission but Slivers uses it to pass to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slivers has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Bjornson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Slivers counters with a nice double leg into guard. Slivers wants to stand but Bjornson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bjornson looking for a guillotine here but Slivers defends easily.

Bjornson fails with the takedown and Slivers counters with a takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bjornson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Slivers lands an elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slivers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Slivers trying to control the action but Bjornson is working from the bottom. Slivers is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bjornson's shoulder. That is not cool. Bjornson prevents Slivers from improving position. Bjornson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Bjornson trying to control but Slivers flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Slivers looking for the choke from the back. Oooh a big shot gets through from Slivers. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

That's one minute gone in the round. Slivers doesn't have the hooks in and Bjornson manages to turn into his guard.
Slivers looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bjornson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Slivers gets full guard. Slivers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Slivers tries to get out of the position. Slivers can't keep his opponent in guard - Bjornson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Slivers is looking to escape. Bjornson is trying to work for a kimura but Slivers is defending well.
Bjornson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Slivers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bjornson did well to prevent Slivers getting side control. Bjornson tries to get to full guard but Slivers has control of the leg. Slivers scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Slivers works his way into full mount! Slivers prevents Bjornson from getting the reversal.

And that's the end of the fight! West Slivers showed his dominance in that final round. Well Slivers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
