The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petersson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McDonald as he avoids it easily.

McDonald gets the takedown into side control.
Petersson is looking to regain half guard here but McDonald keeps moving and retains side control.
McDonald looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Petersson is avoiding damage well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petersson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Who's going to make the next move?
Petersson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McDonald wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McDonald trying to control the action but Petersson is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McDonald gets a takedown into half guard.

Let's hope that Petersson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Petersson is trying to keep McDonald in close.
McDonald lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Petersson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McDonald can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Petersson pulls McDonald in close to prevent any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Petersson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Thor Petersson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Petersson wants to clinch up but McDonald keeps it at a distance.
McDonald gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Petersson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Petersson.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Petersson.
Petersson drops down looking for an ankle pick but McDonald pulls his leg out and moves away.
Petersson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Rayray McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Petersson darts in and clinches McDonald up against the cage.

McDonald drags the fight down to the ground.
McDonald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Petersson trying to control the position from guard on top but McDonald is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Petersson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

McDonald is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McDonald is trying to control the position but Petersson postures up.

Petersson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDonald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McDonald has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Petersson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

McDonald working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Petersson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Petersson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Petersson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
McDonald tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McDonald is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Petersson is sitting in close to McDonald's body. McDonald has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Petersson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Petersson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by McDonald.
