Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Cordero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Polski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Polski shoots for a takedown but Cordero saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Polski rushes Cordero and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Cordero stops a takedown attempt from Polski.
Cordero breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice takedown defense from Cordero. No joy for Polski on that attempt. Ray Cordero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Polski. Cordero stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cordero is defended easily by Polski. Polski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Cordero counters with a lovely straight right hand! Cordero gets in close and instigates a clinch. Polski wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cordero has him pressed against the cage. Cordero is trying to trip Polski. He has hold of a leg but Polski is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cordero persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Polski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cordero can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cordero trying to control the position from guard on top but Polski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cordero would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Cordero chips away with some ground and pound. Cordero throws a strike but Polski rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Polski being controlled here momentarily. Polski is looking to stand up but Cordero won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Cordero is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Polski with a flurry of punches that miss. Cordero looking for a sweep. Not yet Cordero, not yet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cordero clinches up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cordero tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Polski's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cordero wants to clinch and Polski counters with a one-two to the body. Polski tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Cordero counters with a shoot takedown. Polski fights it but they end up in guard. Polski looking to control.
Polski is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Cordero throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Cordero knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Polski on the ground. Polski wants to stand but Cordero is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Polski trying to keep a closed guard but Cordero is proving a slippery customer.
Polski is pulling down on Cordero's head. It's preventing any offense from Cordero, at least for the moment. Cordero landing some decent shots from guard. Cordero trying to control the position from guard on top but Polski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Polski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Cordero counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Polski's guard now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ray Cordero dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Polski has his takedown stuffed and Cordero counters with a nice double leg into guard. Polski preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Polski controls Cordero momentarily but Cordero frees himself. Cordero trying to control but Polski is working from the bottom. Polski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cordero is aware though and is defending well. Cordero throwing strikes but missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cordero won't allow Polski to get back to his feet. Polski is breathing heavily. Polski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cordero closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Cordero scoring with punches and elbows. Cordero in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Cordero cracks Polski with an elbow. That is naaassty. Cordero connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Polski some visible discomfort.
Cordero in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cordero working the head and body with strikes. Cordero stands up and beckons Polski to his feet. Cordero gets the takedown into side control. Cordero controlling the position from side mount. Polski gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Polski on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Polski tries to roll over but Cordero keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cordero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Polski kicks off Cordero and gets to his feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Polski looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cordero takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Polski with a lazy takedown attempt and Cordero counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jab by Cordero. Cordero wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Jab from Cordero. Polski walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Cordero closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cordero throws a strike aimed at the side of Polski's head but Polski avoids it well. Polski wants to control but Cordero postures up. Cordero throwing shots but missing, from side control. Polski struggling a bit here. Cordero working the body and head with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ray Cordero dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Cordero swings and misses with a shot to the body and Polski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Cordero throws a combination. Polski tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Polski tries for a takedown but Cordero circles away easily and Cordero counters with a straight right hand. Cordero tries to clinch but Polski is having none of it. Polski drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Polski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cordero is keeping the position for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cordero wants to stand and escape but Polski is having none of it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Polski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Polski wants to control from the top but Cordero keeps moving. Polski wanted to stand there but Cordero had control of the position. Cordero is adopting a defensive guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cordero closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Ground and pound from Cordero. Cordero lands strikes from half guard. Cordero wants to control but Polski is keeping him busy. Polski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Polski. Cordero throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Polski pushes Cordero off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Polski doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cordero counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cordero. Polski looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cordero stands up from guard. Let's bang! Cordero misses with a few strikes there.

Polski is fighting to break Cordero's control of his arms but Cordero is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Polski tries to free his leg and advance position but Cordero is retaining full guard.

Cordero swats away the attempt to clinch by Polski. Ray Cordero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cordero feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Polski's calf. Cordero tries to clinch up but Polski circles away and keeps his distance. Robert Polski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ray Cordero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Polski falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cordero counters with a single leg into guard. Polski didn't expect that.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ray Cordero. Well Cordero has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
