Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Andreas Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and mick jager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). mick jager is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andreas Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
jager avoids a punch combination nicely.
Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there.
Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, jager has managed to free his arm - good work.
jager is trying to control but can't.
Silva tries to pass to full mount but jager defends it.
jager is looking to control Silva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can jager avoid being mounted?
Silva prevents jager from improving his position.

jager wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
jager lands with a kick to the temple. Silva shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Silva won't allow jager to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva advances to half guard.
jager tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
jager misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Silva wants to pass to mount but jager is defending the position.
Silva is breathing heavily.
jager tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg.
Silva not landing any meaningful shots this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silva darts in and clinches jager up against the cage.
Silva is looking for a takedown up against the cage. jager gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
jager is trying to trip Silva. He has hold of a leg but Silva is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. jager persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Silva uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Silva tries to clinch but jager is having none of it.
Silva throws a head kick that misses
and jager counters with a nice leg kick.
jager has closed the distance and engaged Silva in a clinch.
jager tightens his grip and picks Silva up, before dumping him to the ground. Silva manages to land in guard.

jager must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
jager sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.
jager wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

jager might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Silva kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Silva is positioning himself well to prevent jager advancing to mount.

jager wants to stand but Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but mick jager will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
jager doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
jager drops down looking for an ankle pick but Silva pulls his leg out and moves away.
Silva feints and as jager raises his hands in defense, Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Silva wants to stand but jager is controlling his posture from full guard.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

jager keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
Silva wants to pass the guard but jager is keeping the position.
Silva tries to stand but jager is controlling from the bottom.
jager is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
jager pulls Silva in to control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva passes jager's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Silva stalling away here and it's allowed jager to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
jager pulls Silva in to control the position.
Silva makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Silva connects with a couple of short punches.
jager is striking from the bottom but Silva uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Silva gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Silva throws the left hand but jager avoids the punch easily.
jager tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
jager tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Silva lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
