PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gonnovan Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Z Mozenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Gonnovan Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Z Mozenter!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mozenter misses with a wild combination.
Stone avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mozenter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stone moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mozenter throws a nice looking combination but Stone bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mozenter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stone.

Mozenter has Stone up against the ropes in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stone is trying to trip Mozenter. He has hold of a leg but Mozenter is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Stone persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Stone tries to free his leg and advance position but Mozenter is retaining full guard.

Stone drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mozenter dives on top into guard.
Mozenter trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mozenter is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mozenter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mozenter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stone manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mozenter has Stone in his guard.

Stone postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mozenter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stone, into his guard.
Mozenter pushes down on Stone's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mozenter is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Stone manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mozenter working to try and regain half guard.

Stone swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mozenter is now in Stone's guard. A big mistake from Stone there, giving up the dominant position!

Stone throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mozenter uses it to pass to side control.
Mozenter trying to control the action but Stone is working from the bottom.

Mozenter has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mozenter looks gassed!

Stone gets a takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mozenter manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Stone has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Stone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Stone trying to control but Mozenter is working from the bottom.
Mozenter throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Stone wants to pass the guard but Mozenter is keeping the position.
Stone trying to control but Mozenter is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stone loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mozenter keeping moving, preventing Stone from controlling successfully.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Stone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stone working away.

Stone is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mozenter has escaped the position, nice work there.

Stone working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
An elbow from Stone crashes against the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gonnovan Stone dominated that round.
That's time! Stone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Stone shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Stone was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mozenter wants to hold on but Stone pushes him away.
Mozenter is trying to escape the mount.
Stone misses with a head shot.
Stone prevents Mozenter from getting the reversal.
Stone blocks Mozenter's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Mozenter is breathing heavily.

Stone working for a guillotine from mount but Mozenter is in no mood to give up.

Stone has hold of Mozenter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mozenter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stone moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mozenter has worked his arm free - good work by Mozenter!
Stone is looking to take a break and control but Mozenter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mozenter is looking to regain half guard here but Stone keeps moving and retains side control.
Mozenter seems a little lost for a moment, as Stone dominates the positioning.
Stone trying to control the action but Mozenter is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Stone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stone is working to tighten is grip on Mozenter's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mozenter has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Stone is really squeezing tight and eventually Mozenter passes out! Stone breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Gonnovan Stone!
