PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dalton Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demarcus Ware (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ware is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Put on. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dalton Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demarcus Ware!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rogers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ware to the mat! Ware manages to get full guard.
Ware not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rogers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Ware throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Ware wants to sweep but no luck.

Ware looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rogers postures up in Ware's guard and throws a big left but Ware blocks it.
Rogers looking to pass the guard.
Rogers works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Rogers seems to be looking for submissions.

Rogers wants to work for an arm triangle but Ware is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rogers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rogers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ware on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ware is looking for a sweep.
Rogers is looking to take a break and control but Ware is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rogers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ware, who protects the arm well.
Rogers is breathing heavily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rogers swings around for an armbar but Ware sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rogers's guard.
Ware passes Rogers's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rogers is not content to let Ware control the position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ware lands a nice short elbow.

Rogers is really struggling to control Ware but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Rogers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rogers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rogers showed some decent athleticism there.

Rogers comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Dalton Rogers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rogers throws a hook to the side of Ware's head but Ware sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Ware is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Ware is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Ware is stalling here. Rogers is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ware seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rogers has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Rogers tries to advance to mount but can't.
Ware tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rogers wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Ware is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Rogers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Rogers lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rogers has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rogers manages to break the clinch.

Rogers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Rogers is looking for a kimura but Ware is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rogers to get the leverage.
Ware is not content to let Rogers control the position.

Rogers is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ware is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Rogers is keen to just control but Ware is a slippery customer.
Ware is pressing down on Rogers's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rogers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ware seems keen to control Rogers's posture.
Ware controls Rogers momentarily but Rogers frees himself.

Ware is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Rogers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ware throws out a loose jab but Rogers uses good head movement to avoid it.

Rogers has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ware is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rogers is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Ware tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dalton Rogers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demarcus Ware.
A right hook to the body lands for Rogers.

Ware wants the takedown. Rogers is fighting it off but Ware persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Rogers's guard against the cage.
Rogers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ware's guard.

Ware has his foot on Rogers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rogers works his way back into a safe position though.

Rogers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Ware will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Rogers keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ware's head.
