PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Balrog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and KO Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Mike Balrog could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to KO Pain's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, KO Pain!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain fails with a takedown attempt.
Pain shoots in for a takedown but Balrog shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Balrog misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Mike Balrog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of KO Pain.

Pain shoots for a double leg takedown but Balrog sprawls well. He's pushed Pain's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Balrog lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Balrog fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pain looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Pain doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Balrog connects with a jab.
Balrog stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Balrog wants it to stay on the feet.
Pain with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Balrog to score with a decent uppercut.

Balrog turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Balrog's corner calls for a 1-2. Balrog obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Balrog fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pain manages to avoid it.
Balrog is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Pain shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Balrog napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Balrog is looking for a sweep.

Pain passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Balrog!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Balrog has momentary wrist control but Pain slips an elbow through the middle.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Pain looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Balrog with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
