PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Fedro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khris Murphey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murphey has chosen Back in Black as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Pedro Fedro has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Pedro Fedro seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Fedro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Khris Murphey!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Murphey feints and as Fedro raises his hands in defense, Murphey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fedro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Murphey defends it easily.
Murphey is stalling in the full guard.
Fedro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Murphey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Murphey stops Fedro from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Murphey doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Fedro gets caught flat footed, as Murphey shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fedro wants to stand but Murphey is controlling the position.

Murphey working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fedro's head.
Fedro wants to sweep but no luck.
Murphey won't allow Fedro to get back to his feet.

Fedro has his foot on Murphey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Murphey works his way back into a safe position though.
Fedro is breathing heavily.
Murphey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fedro tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fedro controls Murphey momentarily but Murphey frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murphey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Murphey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Murphey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fedro keeps working.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Murphey in particular looking to stall.

Despite being in the dominant position, Khris Murphey just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Khris Murphey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Murphey is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Fedro has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Fedro!
Fedro looking to sit in guard and control but Murphey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Khris Murphey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Murphey winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
