Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cal White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lath Hoy!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White shoots in for a double leg but Hoy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hoy looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

White isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hoy stacks White on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hoy!

Hoy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but White is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hoy tries to advance to mount but White denies him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoy has knee on belly and moves into mount.
White is trying desperately to improve position.
White prevents Hoy from taking his back.

Hoy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Hoy looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Hoy has hold of White's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and White manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
White tries to hold on but Hoy postures up.
White manages to regain half guard. Good work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

White with the active half guard here but Hoy passes nicely into side control.
Hoy tries to move to mount but White blocks the move with his legs.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
White is looking for a sweep.
White regains half guard.
White is not content to let Hoy control the position.

Hoy wants to work for an arm triangle but White is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hoy looks gassed!

White looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hoy fails with an attempt to clinch.
White doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hoy counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White is not content to let Hoy control the position.
White tries to get back to half guard but can't.

White looks to move to half guard but instead Hoy has passed into mount! Damn!
White manages to regain half guard. Good work.

White is trying to control but can't.

White looking for submissions off his back.
White has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hoy is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lath Hoy dominated that round.

White throws a hook but Hoy blocks it.

White scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
White lands a few punches from side control.
White is looking to take a break and control but Hoy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
White is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hoy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
White moves into full mount!
White lands a heavy elbow.

White is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hoy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hoy!
Hoy wants to pass the guard but White is keeping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

White looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hoy puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
White is refusing to be controlled, as Hoy sits in half guard.
White is looking to improve his position.
White wants to control but Hoy passes into side.
Hoy tries to advance to mount but White denies him.
White sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
White slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Hoy advances to half guard.
White gets full guard.
Hoy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

White had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hoy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. White Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hoy's back instead.
Hoy breaks White's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

White working for a triangle but Hoy defends it easily.

White is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

White manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hoy manages to get himself to full guard.
White controlling from the top position.
White trying to control but Hoy is working from the bottom.
Hoy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
White sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hoy's guard.

White is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hoy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time White.
White not landing any meaningful shots this time.

White is trying to work for a kimura but Hoy is defending well.
White is thwarting Hoy's attempts to control the position.

Hoy is defending against the submission attempts here by White.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cal White dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


White misses with a takedown

and Hoy counters with a nice double leg into side control. White won't be happy with that.

White wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hoy is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. White has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Hoy has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! White taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Hoy doesn't care though - he's delighted!
