PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Kain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Naz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anderson Naz!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Kain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kain leaves Naz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kain dives in and grabs Naz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Naz pushes down on Kain's head and hops out.
Kain takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Naz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kain tries to close the distance and clinch but Naz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Naz tries to clinch but Kain is having none of it.
Kain could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kain moves away from the strike by Naz.
Naz closes the distance and clinches up with Kain, looking for a takedown. Naz pushes Kain against the cage but Kain circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Naz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Kain misses with some punches.
Kain looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Naz crunches a lovely knee into Kain's ribcage.
Kain wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Naz has him pressed against the cage.
Kain is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Naz is pressed up against the cage. Kain has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Naz down to the mat. Naz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kain goes for a takedown attempt but Naz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Naz fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kain checks it well.

Naz darts in and clinches Kain up against the cage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Naz dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Naz closes the distance but Kain moves to the side

and Kain counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Naz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kain stacks Naz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kain!
Kain misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ground and pound from Kain seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Naz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kain's waist but Kain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Naz off to one side.

Naz has closed the distance and engaged Kain in a clinch.

Kain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Naz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kain drives through and clinches with Naz against the cage.
Kain fails to pull guard.
Naz is trying to maintain a safe position but Kain gets an underhook and turns Naz into the cage.

Kain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Naz counters with a nice body shot.
Kain misses with a wild combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Naz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kain sprawls well. Kain wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Naz gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Naz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kain.

and Naz counters by moving into the clinch.
Naz has Kain pressed against the cage, preventing Kain from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kain wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kain looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Kain decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Naz or perhaps it was just good defense by Kain which made him look bad.
Kain tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Naz swivels and escapes.

Naz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kain keeps the fight on the outside.

Naz clinches up with Kain and pushes him back against the cage.

I would just about give that final round to Anderson Naz.
I think Naz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
