Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Igor Valchenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Seth Sanders! The judges for this bout are , and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valchenko is looking to clinch but Sanders is avoiding it.
Valchenko wants to clinch. Valchenko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Valchenko would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Sanders keeping moving, preventing Valchenko from controlling successfully. Valchenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanders is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valchenko has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanders is proving hard to escape from. Valchenko trying to control but Sanders is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valchenko is looking to work some ground and pound but Sanders has wrist control. Valchenko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Valchenko fails with a takedown attempt. Valchenko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Valchenko takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Valchenko wants to clinch. Sanders lands a big head kick that sends Valchenko tumbling to the mat! Sanders takes a step backwards and waves Valchenko back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Igor Valchenko has been cut. Valchenko misses with the combination.
Valchenko fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Igor Valchenko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valchenko is breathing heavily. Valchenko throws a looping overhand right but Sanders ducks down to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valchenko misses with a wild body shot. Valchenko tries to clinch but Sanders is having none of it. Sanders moves in looking to clinch but Valchenko pushes him off. Horrible takedown by Valchenko or perhaps it was just good defense by Sanders which made him look bad. Sanders throws a sloppy head kick and Valchenko moves out of range easily. Sanders cracks Valchenko with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Valchenko tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Sanders pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Valchenko is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
