Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hajime no Ipo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hajime no Ipo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wanderlei Rua! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua fails miserably with a takedown attempt. no Ipo has his takedown stuffed and Rua counters with a takedown into side control. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Rua is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. no Ipo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Rua tries to move to mount but no Ipo blocks the move with his legs. no Ipo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rua wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. no Ipo regains half guard. no Ipo wants to improve his position but Rua is controlling well.
Rua trying to mount his opponent but no Ipo defends it. Rua is thwarting no Ipo's attempts to control the position. Rua is trying to work for a kimura but no Ipo is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so no Ipo is just riding it out for now. Rua eventually gives up the hold. no Ipo wants to get back to full guard. Rua is tying to control. no Ipo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rua is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rua tries for a takedown but no Ipo circles away easily and no Ipo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. no Ipo moves into range and clinches up with Rua. Rua is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. no Ipo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Hajime no Ipo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Rua. no Ipo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rua clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! no Ipo working for a choke but Rua is defending well. Rua is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. no Ipo looking for the choke but no joy. Rua fending off the submission attempt from no Ipo. no Ipo doesn't have the hooks in and Rua manages to turn into his guard.
no Ipo is looking for a triangle but Rua pushes his legs off easily.
Rua is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! no Ipo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. no Ipo trying to mount his opponent but Rua defends it. Rua is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's three minutes gone in the round. no Ipo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rua is just riding it out for now. no Ipo eventually gives up the hold. no Ipo trying to pass the guard but Rua defending well. no Ipo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rua! Rua regains half guard. Rua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. no Ipo is working away from the top position though. Rua gets back to full guard.

Rua keeping moving, preventing no Ipo from controlling successfully. Rua is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua has his foot on no Ipo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. no Ipo works his way back into a safe position though. Rua looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but no Ipo is defending well. Rua quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! no Ipo has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Rua celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
