Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Casey Silk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lanier comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sage Francis-Sea Lion kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silk closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silk lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Silk lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Silk has gone for a leg lock! Lanier slips out almost immediately though and dives into Silk's guard.
Silk controls Lanier momentarily but Lanier frees himself.
Lanier wants to pass the guard but Silk is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lanier accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lanier tries to free his leg and advance position but Silk is retaining full guard.
Lanier is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lanier wants to control from the top but Silk keeps moving.
Silk isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lanier stacks Silk on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lanier!

Lanier is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silk is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Silk wants to control but Lanier postures up.

Lanier throws a strike aimed at the side of Silk's head but Silk avoids it well.
Silk sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lanier shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silk as he jumps to the side.
Lanier is trying hard to land a takedown here. Silk sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lanier shoots in for a double leg but Silk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Casey Silk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Lanier.

Silk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silk is defended easily by Lanier.
Silk shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lanier as he avoids it easily.

and Silk counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silk.
Lanier controls Silk momentarily but Silk frees himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lanier has gone for a leg lock! Silk slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lanier's guard.
Lanier has momentary wrist control but Silk slips an elbow through the middle.
Lanier looking for a sweep. Not yet Lanier, not yet.
Silk throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lanier pushes Silk off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Silk fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lanier on the side of the head.
Silk scores with a hook.
Silk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Silk counters with a shoot takedown. Lanier fights it but they end up in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silk shoots and misses
and Lanier counters with a shoot takedown. Silk fights it but they end up in guard.

and Lanier counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silk!
Silk is squirming around, avoiding Lanier's attempts to control the action.
Lanier is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Silk is surviving well by controlling Lanier's body position as best he can.

Silk is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lanier's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lanier's back!

Casey Silk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Silk is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lanier is defending well though. Silk let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close second round but I would say that Casey Silk will probably get the nod.

and Silk counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lanier's guard now.
Lanier can't keep his opponent in guard - Silk advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
