Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Myres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Myres! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Willis! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Willis misses with a wild combination.

Myres takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
It looks like James Myres has been cut. Willis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Myres moves away. Myres showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Willis.
Myres drops his hands momentarily and Willis takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Willis drops Myres with a beautiful combination! Myres stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Willis is looking for the KO! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The fighters circling - Willis throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Willis fails to land with a series of punches.

Willis connects with a body shot. Myres fails to land the takedown. Willis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myres scores a takedown into full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Myres wants to control the pace but Willis is squirming around nicely. Myres tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Willis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Myres wants to control the pace but Willis is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Myres looking for a guillotine from mount but Willis is having none of it. Myres controlling from mount. Myres swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Willis is now in Myres's guard. A big mistake from Myres there, giving up the dominant position! Willis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Willis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Myres is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Willis defends well. Myres looking to hit a scissor sweep but Willis is one step ahead there. Willis is stalling in the full guard. Myres wants to get back to his feet but Willis is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Myres has his foot on Willis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Willis works his way back into a safe position though.

Myres has control of Willis's left arm, preventing Willis from doing any damage. Myres keeping full guard, as Willis tries to pass. Willis controlling from the top position. Myres seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Myres looking to control.

Steve Willis dominated that round. The cut man is working on James Myres's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Myres on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Willis just misses with a punch to the body.
Myres moves out of range as Willis strikes. Willis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Myres takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Myres ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Willis lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
James Myres's cut is getting worse. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Willis digs a good body shot into Myres's ribs. Myres uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Willis. Willis lands with a big right hook that stumbles Myres - he's out on his feet here! Willis follows up with another monster hook that separates Myres from consciousness! Myres falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Willis stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
