Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Psy Meyers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cage comes to the cage accompanied by "Can't Be Touched" by Roy Jones Jr.. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Psy Meyers!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meyers shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Meyers working the head and body with strikes.
Meyers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cage is looking for a sweep. Meyers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nice strikes from Meyers there.
Meyers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
It looks like Meyers is going to stand back up.
Cage wants to control but Meyers is keeping busy.
Cage avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Meyers.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meyers drops back looking for a leg! Cage is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cage manages to kick Meyers off! Meyers jumps back into Cage's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Meyers darts in and clinches Cage up against the cage.

Meyers pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Meyers scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cage is breathing heavily.

Meyers decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Meyers.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Meyers is looking to take a break and control but Cage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cage is working to avoid the ground and pound but Meyers connects with a decent elbow.
Meyers lands some shots froms side control.
Meyers grinds an elbow into Cage's temple.
Cage could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Meyers passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Cage!

Cage is bucking up trying to escape but Meyers cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Meyers cracks Cage with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Cage is in a horrible position here. Meyers smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
BOOM! Meyers connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Meyers lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Cage hang on?
Cage tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Meyers lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cage is looking to get to half guard.
Meyers has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cage's face.
Meyers lands a nice shot to the head.
The referee warns Cage that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Meyers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Meyers looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Cage is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cage is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Psy Meyers dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Meyers closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Meyers manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Meyers. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Meyers wants to sweep here but Cage controlling him for the moment.

Cage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Meyers keeps working.

Meyers is trying to maintain the position but Cage is very close to passing his half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cage blocks a head kick by Meyers.

Meyers closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Meyers turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Cage tries to keep at a distance but Meyers has taken the fight into the clinch.

Meyers has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cage is trying to keep an underhook but Meyers manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Meyers lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Cage is trying to control but can't.
Cage tries to roll over but Meyers keeps him under control.
Cage wants to control but Meyers is keeping busy.
Cage is looking to improve his position.

Meyers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cage is just riding it out for now. Meyers eventually gives up the hold.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Meyers is thwarting Cage's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Meyers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Meyers.
Meyers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Meyers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cage to the mat! Cage manages to get full guard.
Cage pulls Meyers in close to his closed guard and prevents Meyers from doing any damage or advancing position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Meyers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Psy Meyers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Meyers feints and as Cage raises his hands in defense, Meyers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Meyers gets to his feet. Cage looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Meyers fails to land with a series of punches.
Cage doesn't manage to clinch there - Meyers circles away.
Cage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meyers's waist but Meyers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cage off to one side.
Meyers lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cage backs up against the cage.
Meyers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cage tries to close the distance and clinch up but Meyers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Meyers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Meyers shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Meyers was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Meyers is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cage to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cage shrugs it off.
Meyers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cage can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cage can't escape the position.

Meyers is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cage can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Psy Meyers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Meyers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
