The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Al Shakir fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Al Shakir looks for a takedown but Nasty sprawls well. Al Shakir drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Al Shakir wants to control from the top but Nasty keeps moving. Al Shakir postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Al Shakir won't allow Nasty to get back to his feet. Nasty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Al Shakir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Al Shakir sitting in guard here, content to control. Al Shakir pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nasty is keeping the position for now. Al Shakir trying to control but Nasty is working from the bottom. Al Shakir chips away with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Shakir lands a couple of decent looking shots. Al Shakir throwing strikes but missing. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Al Shakir sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nasty's guard. Nasty looks gassed! Al Shakir working over Nasty with some ground and pound. Nasty looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Al Shakir throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Al Shakir has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Al Shakir lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Nasty is rocked! Al Shakir has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nasty's face.
Nasty is still in real trouble! Can Al Shakir finish him? Nasty is squirming around, avoiding Al Shakir's attempts to control the action. Nasty seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Al Shakir lands a big shot to the head and Nasty winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
