Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joelson Nunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo has chosen Doomsday as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo tries to close the distance and clinch but Nunes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nunes is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Aldo's half guard.
Nunes is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Nunes decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Aldo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nunes cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Nunes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Aldo is not a happy chappy� he wants out of there.

Nunes content just to control the position here.
Aldo is trying to stand.
Aldo is trying to stand but he's just given Nunes his back.

Aldo defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Nunes's arms.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nunes biding his time, looking for the opening.
Aldo has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Nunes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Aldo's guard.
Aldo is looking to stand up but Nunes isn't so interested in that idea.

Nunes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Nunes won't allow Aldo to get back to his feet.

Aldo wants to stand and escape but Nunes is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nunes misses with a series of wild punches.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Nunes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Aldo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Aldo has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Aldo obliges.

Nunes pulls guard.

Nunes has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Aldo off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Aldo closes the distance but Nunes moves to the side

and Nunes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nunes.

Nunes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Aldo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Aldo tries to land knees in the clinch but Nunes avoids the damage to the body.
Aldo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Nunes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Aldo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nunes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aldo keeps working.

Joelson Nunes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Nunes is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Aldo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Nunes takes a little break here. Aldo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Nunes circles away from the clinch attempt

and Nunes counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Aldo's guard now.
Aldo wants to get back to his feet but Nunes passes into half guard.
Aldo tries to kick Nunes off but Nunes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Nunes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Aldo pushes Nunes off looking to stand but Nunes dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nunes passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Aldo!
Aldo is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Nunes connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Nunes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nunes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aldo is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

You get the feeling that Aldo really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Nunes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
