Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Martin O Neill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Kendall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think O Neill might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sing for the moment - Eminem. Kendall has chosen Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Martin O Neill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kendall drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kendall is fighting to break O Neill's control of his arms but O Neill is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
O Neill keeping full guard, as Kendall tries to pass.
Kendall must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kendall preventing the sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kendall distracts O Neill with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
O Neill wants to sweep but no luck.
O Neill is working hard here to advance position.
Kendall chips away with some ground and pound.
Kendall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
O Neill working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kendall.
O Neill keeping moving, preventing Kendall from controlling successfully.
Kendall postures up in O Neill's guard and throws a big left but O Neill blocks it.
Kendall throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
O Neill misses with a wild body shot.
Kendall tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kendall takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
O Neill throws an overhand right that lands on Kendall's shoulder, as Kendall tries to avoid the shot.

O Neill feints and as Kendall raises his hands in defense, O Neill changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
O Neill tries to free his leg and advance position but Kendall is retaining full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kendall can do anything to dispel that myth.

O Neill is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kendall is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kendall has escaped and now he's on top!

O Neill is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
O Neill lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kendall!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kendall wants to control but O Neill is having none of it.
Kendall swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Kendall is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

O Neill with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Kendall working to try and regain half guard.

O Neill wants to finish this one by submission but Kendall is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from O Neill.
Kendall tries to hold on but O Neill pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kendall has decided that throwing punches whilst being mounted is the best he can manage just now.

O Neill goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kendall turns into him and now he's in O Neill's guard.
Kendall postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Kendall controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
O Neill is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kendall working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
O Neill has control of Kendall's left arm, preventing Kendall from doing any damage.
Kendall preventing the sweep.
Kendall is looking to work some ground and pound but O Neill has wrist control.

O Neill escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kendall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kendall works over O Neill with some ground and pound from guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
O Neill is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kendall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kendall throwing strikes but missing.

Kendall stands up from guard. Let's bang!

O Neill gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kendall trying to control the position from guard on top but O Neill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kendall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Neill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
O Neill looking for a sweep. Not yet O Neill, not yet.
Kendall throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kurt Kendall will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


O Neill looks to land a combination. Kendall sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
O Neill throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kendall sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kendall shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kendall takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
O Neill uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kendall has time to react.
O Neill gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kendall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in O Neill's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kendall wants to get up but he can't break O Neill's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kendall postures up in O Neill's guard and throws a big left but O Neill blocks it.

Kendall throws a big right hand that misses.

Kendall thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kendall preventing the sweep.
O Neill is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kendall preventing the sweep.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kendall tries to close the distance and clinch but O Neill swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kendall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has O Neill pinned against the cage. O Neill gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kendall closes the distance but O Neill moves to the side
and O Neill counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kendall wants to clinch

and O Neill counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
O Neill tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kendall knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kendall misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Kendall trying to hold on to O Neill's head to control him but O Neill postures up.

O Neill has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kendall defend it? O Neill steps over the head and cranks it - Kendall is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for O Neill!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Martin O Neill!
