2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demian Noia! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Noia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Noia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Noia is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Muniz has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Noia is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Muniz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Muniz! Muniz wants to pass the guard but Noia is keeping the position. Noia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Muniz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Noia looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Muniz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Noia tries to get to full guard but Muniz has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Noia is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Muniz pulls his head out easily. The fighters are battling for position here. Noia manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Noia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Muniz won't allow Noia to sweep him here. Noia looks gassed! Noia is looking for a triangle but Muniz pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Noia is looking for a triangle here but Muniz uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Noia manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Noia is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Muniz sees it coming and defends easily. Muniz keeps control of the position for the meantime. Muniz works his way to full guard. Good work. Noia throws and elbow that misses. Muniz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Noia's guard. Nice move by Muniz! Noia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Muniz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Noia looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Muniz passes into half guard.
Noia looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Muniz stands up and beckons Noia to join him on the feet. A jab lands there for Muniz. Muniz misses with a head kick.
Noia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Noia is looking to clinch but Muniz is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Noia shoots for a double leg takedown but Muniz sprawls well. He's pushed Noia's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Muniz stuffs the takedown. Rafael Muniz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Noia. Muniz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Muniz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Noia manages to avoid it. Noia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Noia shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Muniz as he avoids it easily. Noia scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Muniz is trying to control but can't.
Noia is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Noia wants to advance to full mount but Muniz doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Demian Noia will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Muniz fails in his attempt to clinch. Excellent takedown into side control there by Noia. Muniz sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Noia is looking to advance position but Muniz won't allow it. Noia is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Muniz still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Muniz has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Noia is trying to get back to half guard. Noia is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Noia is breathing heavily. Noia manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Noia wants to get back to full guard but Muniz has mounted him! Noia keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Muniz get's back to his feet. Rafael Muniz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Muniz tries to clinch there but Noia circles away.
Noia tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Muniz swivels and escapes. Noia misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Muniz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Noia on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Muniz looks to clinch and Noia counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Noia prevents Muniz from improving his position. Noia thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Muniz to regain full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Noia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Muniz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Muniz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Muniz! Muniz decides to stand up, so the ref orders Noia to his feet. Muniz pushes Noia up against the cage in a clinch. Noia tries for a takedown. No joy.
Rafael Muniz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Noia. Muniz is working for takedown but Noia is calmly controlling the position for now. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Noia has Muniz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Muniz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Noia looking for a takedown. Muniz is pressed up against the cage. Noia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Muniz down to the mat. Muniz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Muniz, right into the meat.

Noia wants to pass the guard but Muniz is keeping the position. Noia drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Muniz manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Noia has Muniz in his guard. Muniz stopping the sweep attempt from Noia.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Muniz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Noia, up you get! Noia gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Noia is trying to drag Muniz to the mat but Muniz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Muniz is pressed up against the cage. Noia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Muniz down to the mat. Muniz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Muniz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Noia napping and manages to drive through into side control! Noia looking for a sweep but Muniz has passed into full mount! Oh no! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Noia squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Rafael Muniz dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Noia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Noia passes into half guard. Noia is working for a kimura but Muniz is defending it quite comfortably.
Noia is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Muniz has managed to free his arm - good work. Noia is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Noia uses his free foot to push down on Muniz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Muniz. Noia jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Muniz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Muniz and Noia has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Noia wants to work for an arm triangle but Muniz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Noia tries for a takedown but Muniz circles away easily and Muniz counters by moving into the clinch. Muniz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Noia with a poor takedown so Muniz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Muniz wants to control from the top but Noia keeps moving. Noia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Muniz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Noia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Noia looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Muniz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Noia tries to clinch but fails miserably and Muniz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Muniz. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Muniz is looking to stand up but Noia won't let him. Muniz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Muniz trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Noia working for a triangle but Muniz defends it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Rafael Muniz showed his dominance in that final round. Well Muniz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
