PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Henrique Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Everaldo Jorge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castro comes to the cage accompanied by Kreator - Hordes of Chaos. Jorge has chosen Evans Entrance as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henrique Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Everaldo Jorge!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorge fails in his attempt to clinch.
Castro keeps the fight on the outside.
Jorge misses with an attempted mid kick.
Castro swings for the body but Jorge moves out of range.

Jorge shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Jorge is looking for a kimura here.
Jorge moves nicely into side control.
Castro is trying to get back to his feet.
Jorge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Castro keeps working.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jorge lands with a thumping leg kick.
A lazy left from Castro finds it's target.
Castro avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jorge moves out of range of the strikes.
Castro swinging wilding here.

Castro will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jorge throws a leg kick which misses Castro's front leg but catches the back leg as Castro tries to avoid it.

Castro swats away the attempt to clinch by Jorge.
Castro tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jorge was well out of range. Poor timing from Castro.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jorge.
Castro is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jorge.
Jorge uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Castro.

Henrique Castro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Castro misses with a jab, cross combination.
Castro throws a hook to the side of Jorge's head but Jorge sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Jorge shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jorge was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Castro really wants to buck Jorge off and get back to his feet.
Jorge wants to take Castro's back here but Castro is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Jorge has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Castro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Castro misses with a wild combination.
Castro looks to score with a jab to the body but Jorge is just out of range.
Jorge avoids the body shot from Castro.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jorge.
Jorge lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Jorge is looking to clinch.
Jorge buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jorge lands a body shot.
Castro swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jorge goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

A jab-cross combination lands for Jorge and sends Castro crashing to the mat! Jorge follows him down to the mat - Castro regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Henrique Castro has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jorge is working for a kimura but Castro is defending it quite comfortably.
Jorge is trying to control the action in half guard but Castro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jorge seems to be working for a kimura but Castro defends the submission attempt.
Jorge wants to control but Castro is keeping him busy.

Jorge is taking a breather. Castro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Let's hope that Jorge has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Castro tries to roll over but Jorge keeps him under control.
Jorge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Castro keeps working.
Castro is looking for a sweep. Jorge is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jorge works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jorge looking to control but Castro is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Castro wants to hold on but Jorge pushes him away.
Jorge can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Castro is looking to escape.

Jorge swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Castro is now in Jorge's guard. A big mistake from Jorge there, giving up the dominant position!
Jorge can't keep his opponent in guard - Castro advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jorge looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jorge is pressing down on Castro's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Jorge wants to sweep but no luck.
Castro wants to stand but Jorge has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Castro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jorge escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Castro gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Castro wants to get up but he can't break Jorge's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Castro gets to his feet. Jorge looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Everaldo Jorge showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Jorge avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jorge shoots in looking for a takedown. Castro tries to sprawl out of it but Jorge keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Castro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jorge tries to score a power double leg takedown but Castro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jorge somewhat.

No joy there for Castro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Castro scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Castro throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jorge sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Jorge counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Castro!

Jorge is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Castro can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Jorge has control of Castro's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Castro regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Henrique Castro showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jorge has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
