Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kushin Takahashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Sardoni!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Takahashi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Takahashi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sardoni, who protects the arm well.
Takahashi working away.
Takahashi has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Sardoni!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takahashi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sardoni is surviving well by controlling Takahashi's body position as best he can.
Sardoni is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Takahashi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Takahashi trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Takahashi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sardoni can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Takahashi wants to finish this one by submission but Sardoni is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Takahashi.

Sardoni is looking to get to half guard.
Sardoni really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takahashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sardoni tries to hold on but Takahashi pushes him away.
Sardoni is working to get back to half guard.
Takahashi wants to control the pace but Sardoni is squirming around nicely.
Sardoni is looking to get to half guard.
Sardoni has given up his back here. Will Takahashi look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Sardoni trying to control the position but Takahashi manages to sink in the hooks.
Takahashi wants to control but Sardoni is keeping busy.
Sardoni turns into Takahashi and is now in his guard.
Takahashi has Sardoni pulled in close to control his posture.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Takahashi controls Sardoni momentarily but Sardoni frees himself.
Takahashi has Sardoni pulled in close to control his posture.

Takahashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sardoni gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Takahashi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Takahashi is breathing heavily.

Sardoni defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Takahashi.

Sardoni wants to control but Takahashi is having none of it.
Takahashi content just to control the position here.

Takahashi working for a submission but Sardoni is keeping him at bay.
Sardoni wants to hold on but Takahashi pushes him away.
Sardoni might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takahashi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Takahashi with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Takahashi avoids the attempt from Sardoni to control.

Takahashi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sardoni is looking to escape.

Takahashi looking to secure an arm triangle but Sardoni defends it well.
Sardoni is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Takahashi wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Takahashi looking for a guillotine from mount but Sardoni is having none of it.
Takahashi fails to advance to Sardoni's back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kushin Takahashi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Takahashi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sardoni tries to clinch there but Takahashi circles away.
Sardoni stuffs the takedown.
Takahashi misses with a takedown attempt - Sardoni sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kushin Takahashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sardoni shoots in and bounces Takahashi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Takahashi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sardoni stacks Takahashi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sardoni!
You can see the frustration on Takahashi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Takahashi sneaks back into half guard.
Takahashi works his way to full guard. Good work.

Takahashi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sardoni must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sardoni trying to control but Takahashi is working from the bottom.
Sardoni has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Takahashi is proving hard to escape from.

Takahashi is looking for a triangle but Sardoni pushes his legs off easily.
Kushin Takahashi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sardoni advances to half guard.

Sardoni is looking to take a break and control but Takahashi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Takahashi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Takahashi.

Takahashi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sardoni doesn't defend quickly enough and Takahashi has managed to lock this one up! Can Sardoni escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Takahashi on a fantastic submission victory.
