Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Pinto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randal Wright! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wright dives in and grabs Pinto's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pinto pushes down on Wright's head and hops out. Pinto tries to keep at a distance but Wright has taken the fight into the clinch. Pinto is working for takedown but Wright is calmly controlling the position for now. Pinto has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wright is trying to keep an underhook but Pinto manages to get the takedown into half guard. Pinto looks to land a strike but Wright avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Wright is looking to stand up but Pinto isn't so interested in that idea. Wright being controlled here, momentarily. Wright preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pinto missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pinto trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wright looking to sweep here. No luck so far. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pinto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pinto shoots and misses and Wright holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Pinto gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wright regains guard.
Pinto tries to free his leg and advance position but Wright is retaining full guard. Wright keeping moving, preventing Pinto from controlling successfully. Pinto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pinto is pushing down on Wright's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wright is fighting to maintain full guard but Pinto has managed to sneak the leg through. Pinto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pinto throwing shots but Wright is blocking nicely. Wright is looking to improve his position.

Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pinto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pinto is breathing heavily. Wright is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Wright tries for a takedown but Pinto circles away easily and Pinto counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pinto thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Wright wants to improve his position but Pinto is controlling well.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Wright shoots and misses and Pinto decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wright's guard. Pinto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Wright wants to stand but Pinto is controlling the position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pinto keeping full guard, as Wright tries to pass. Jose Pinto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pinto trying to keep a closed guard but Wright is proving a slippery customer.

Nice move by Wright! Pinto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Pinto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Wright gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pinto to score an easy takedown into full guard. Wright preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pinto wants to pass the guard but Wright is keeping the position. Pinto wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving.

Pinto is looking to work some ground and pound but Wright has wrist control. Pinto looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Jose Pinto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Pinto trying to control but Wright is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Pinto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pinto showed some decent athleticism there. Pinto keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Randal Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wright is not content to let Pinto control the position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pinto in particular looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Jose Pinto showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pinto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
