Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Snake! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Maurice Kilmers! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snake connects with a right hand. Kilmers shakes it off. No joy there for Snake, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Snake displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kilmers throws out the jab. Kilmers misses with a takedown attempt - Snake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Kilmers is looking to clinch but Snake is avoiding it.
Nice combo by Kilmers! Oh, that's hurt him - Snake falls to the canvas and Kilmers follows him into side control.
It looks like Jake Snake has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kilmers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Snake tries to bench press Kilmers off him but Kilmers keeps the position. Snake prevents Kilmers from moving into mount. Snake is trying to get back to half guard. Kilmers decides to stand back up. Kilmers tries to clinch up but Snake circles away and keeps his distance. Kilmers throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Kilmers motions for Snake to come forward. Kilmers throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Snake swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kilmers counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Snake is trying to stand up here but Kilmers is controlling him well. Snake tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Snake looks like he's trying to stand up.
Snake is breathing heavily. Snake is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Snake has a hand on Kilmers's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kilmers takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Kilmers tries to control but Snake wriggling away. Kilmers looking for a guillotine from mount but Snake is having none of it. Kilmers has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Snake is forced to tap!
