PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Haye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kong has chosen King Kong as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Haye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Kong!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Kong misses.

Kong throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Haye was covering up waiting for the punch and Kong finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kong has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Haye is proving hard to escape from.
Kong looking to sit in guard and control but Haye gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Haye postures up.
Haye wanted to stand there but Kong had control of the position.
Kong is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Haye trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kong's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Haye gets caught flat footed, as Kong shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Haye will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Haye is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kong is controlling him.

Kong decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kong thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kong shoots in looking for a takedown. Haye tries to sprawl out of it but Kong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Haye manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kong has Haye up against the ropes in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Haye jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kong walks away with a smile on his face. Haye gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Haye fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Horrible takedown by Kong or perhaps it was just good defense by Haye which made him look bad.
Haye fails to land with a series of punches.
Haye throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kong stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kong looks gassed!
Haye falls off balance throwing a combination

and Kong counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kong.

Kong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Haye dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A combination from Haye does no damage.
Kong is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Haye.
Haye throws a one two combo.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Haye lands with a nice body punch.
Haye lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
David Haye is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Haye fails to land with a series of punches.
Haye bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kong's head backwards.
Kong slips a jab and a cross from Haye.
King Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Haye connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Haye lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Haye misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kong tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Haye swivels and escapes.
David Haye has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of King Kong.
Haye misses with a series of wild punches.
Kong fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Haye cracks Kong with a right hand to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Haye goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Haye fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Haye misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Danga de danga de dang - Haye scores with a four punch combination!
Haye Rushes Kong and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Kong is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Haye Piles on the pressure and Kong crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Haye!
