PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Trick Daddy - Let's Go ft Twista & Lil Jon. Joe Henderson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Oscar Diaz!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henderson with a hook.
Diaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Henderson moves away.
Diaz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Diaz lands a slapping body shot.
Henderson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily.
Henderson lands with a right hand.
Henderson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.
Joe Henderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Henderson lands a jab to the nose.
Diaz throws a shot from downtown. Henderson moves away and avoids it.
Henderson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diaz.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Henderson misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Henderson tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is working Henderson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Diaz is looking for a kimura but Henderson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Diaz to get the leverage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Henderson throws a nice looking combination but Diaz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Henderson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Diaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Diaz lands in his opponent's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Henderson takes a swing at Diaz's ribcage but misses.
Henderson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Diaz misses with a body shot.
Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Henderson tries to bum rush Diaz with a series of wild strikes but Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Henderson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Diaz throws out a loose jab but Henderson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Diaz lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Diaz takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Henderson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Henderson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.
Henderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Henderson looks to land a combination. Diaz sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Henderson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diaz.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Henderson sprawls well. Henderson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.

Henderson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
Diaz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Henderson has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Diaz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Henderson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Diaz is trying to keep an underhook but Henderson manages to get the takedown into half guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Henderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Diaz is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Henderson rolls with it to try and escape but Diaz cranks on the arm and Henderson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Oscar Diaz!
