Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Tha King. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Alves looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Alves.

Silva has Alves pressed against the cage, preventing Alves from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Alves throws a punch but it's blocked by Silva.

Alves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Silva manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Alves tries to clinch
and Silva finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Alves closes the distance but Silva moves to the side
and Silva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Alves!
Silva thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Silva avoids the attempt from Alves to control.
Silva misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Silva sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Alves is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Alves is working to get back to half guard.
Silva tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Alves is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Alves is trying to escape the mount.
Alves wants to get back to his feet.
Silva trying to control but Alves is having none of it.
Silva won't let Alves get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Alves in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quinton Silva dominated that round.

Silva lands a nice looking kick to the body. Alves takes a step back to recover.
A left lands for Silva.
Alves wants to clinch but Silva slips to the side
and Silva counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Alves's guard now.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Silva is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Silva working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Silva wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
Silva wants to get up but he can't break Alves's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Alves looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Silva with a flurry of punches that miss.
Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alves's guard.

Silva stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Alves to get to his feet.
Thiago Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva tries for a takedown but Alves sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Alves throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.
No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alves tries to clinch up
so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silva prevents Alves from getting back to his feet.

Alves is looking to sinch up a triangle. Silva throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Alves's body to avoid the submission. Alves has instead reached around Silva's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Alves arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
