Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch lands to the side of Sherk 's head but he takes it in his stride. Williams cracks a nice hook into Sherk's ribs. Sherk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Sherk gets a takedown into half guard. Williams pushes Sherk off looking to stand but Sherk dives back in and keeps control.
Sherk missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Williams wants to get back to his feet. Williams pushes Sherk off and gets back to his feet. Sherk dodges the punch combination from Williams.
Williams throws a right hand that Sherk ducks under and follows up with a left that Sherk also avoids with ease. Matt Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sherk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Williams as he jumps to the side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good exchange - Williams coming out on top. Sherk falls off balance throwing a combination
and Williams counters with a lovely straight right hand! Williams throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Sherk shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Williams is trying to defend but Sherk finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Sherk is controlling the pace.
Williams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Williams is looking to escape. Williams looks gassed! Well, if Sherk is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sherk wants to pass the guard but Williams is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams is refusing to be controlled, as Sherk sits in half guard. Williams wants to get back to his feet. Sherk is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sherk stops Williams from getting back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Williams looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams moves into range and connects with a jab. Sherk closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sherk wants to take a breather but Williams is having none of it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Williams looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sherk is controlling the pace.
Sherk is trying to control the action in half guard but Williams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Sherk working Williams over with strikes. Sherk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working. Sherk scoring with strikes to the body and head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherk is trying to control. Williams wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Williams is trying to stand back up but Sherk is controlling him
Sherk wants to free his trapped foot but Williams is holding on for dear life with his legs. Sherk trying to control the action but Williams is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Williams throws a combination that misses and Sherk counters with a shoot takedown. Williams fights it but they end up in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sherk trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sherk advances position into side control! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sherk works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Sherk tries to move into full mount but can't pass Williams's legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sean Sherk dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Williams circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sherk tries to score a power double leg takedown but Williams sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sherk somewhat. Sherk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Williams sprawls well. Williams wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sherk gets slowly back to his feet. Williams throws out a powerful jab. Williams scores with a jab. Sherk acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Williams scores with a hook. Sherk doesn't succeed with the takedown and Williams counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Sherk. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A decent looking cross lands there for Williams. Sherk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Williams's waist but Williams gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sherk off to one side. Williams lands a nice shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams connects with a single shot there. Williams lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Sherk sprawling to the canvas. Williams follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Sherk hang on?
Sherk is rocked! Williams escapes and gets back to his feet. Oh Sherk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Williams connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Sherk tumbling to the canvas! Williams pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Sherk was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Matt Williams!
