Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, king kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
kong misses with a series of wild punches.
kong shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
kong doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Gracie stuffs the takedown attempt from kong. kong gets slowly back to his feet.
kong fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for king kong. That's going to take a lot out of him.
kong swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
kong shoots for a double leg takedown but Gracie sprawls well. He's pushed kong's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
kong shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but kong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Both fighters circling a little - kong finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
kong is looking to clinch.
kong looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
kong is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gracie sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
kong wants to clinch.
kong clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
kong breaks the clinch.
kong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.
kong clinches with his opponent.
Gracie jumps guard but kong stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
kong manages to break the clinch.
kong cracks Gracie with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. kong has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gracie to stand back up!
Gracie is rocked!
It looks like Royce Gracie has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie dodges the punch combination from kong.
Gracie is still on wobbly legs! Can kong finish him?
Gracie slips a straight right by kong.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
kong throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
kong shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and kong slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! kong lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). king kong!
