The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vernon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vernon lands in his opponent's guard.
Vernon passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Vernon lands a nice forearm strike.
Vernon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sean is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vernon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee asks Vernon politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vernon prefers to stall for the moment though.
Vernon is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Sean looks calm but he's in trouble here. Vernon gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Sean is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Vernon lets go of the hold and Sean can pop his arm back in it's socket.
