Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Stann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fade To Black kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Stann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek James! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James throws a push kick but Stann slaps the foot to one side. James looks to land a combination. Stann sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Dan Stann has been cut. Stann circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Stann!
James pushing out the jab but it's not landing. The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though. James misses with a combination
and Stann counters with a three punch combo that has James backing up. James nods at Stann to acknowledge the strikes. James misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Stann ducks right into an uppercut from James. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stann tries to clinch up. James throws a hook but Stann blocks it. A nice leg kick lands there from James. Stann's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Stann duly obliges. James tries to land a front kick but Stann steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

enabling Stann to counter with a crisp jab. James throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Stann scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. James looks gassed! James throws a head kick but Stann moves out of range.

and Stann holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. A battle for position here, against the cage. James tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

James has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. James staying busy and making it hard for Stann to control. Stann softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Stann slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Even with his hooks in, Stann manages to miss with strikes from the back. Stann looking to soften up his opponent with punches.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Good control from Stann. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stann punches the canvas rather than the man. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James throws an overhand right that lands on Stann's shoulder, as Stann tries to avoid the shot. Stann stalks James and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into James's face. James staggers backwards, shaken. Dan Stann is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stann fails to land with a series of punches.

Derek James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. James throws a combination that misses and James takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Stann misses with a few strikes there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Stann lands a big elbow. James is desperately trying to improve his position but Stann has a good base and remains in mount. Stann trying to control but James is having none of it. Stann is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stann looking to control and managing it successfully. Stann punching from mount but James doing a good job of avoiding damage. Stann tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Stann unloads with some shots from mount but James bucks and avoids them well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. James is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Stann lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Dan Stann is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Stann lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
James is looking to get to half guard. Stann unloads with some shots from mount but James bucks and avoids them well.
James is bucking up trying to escape but Stann cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. James swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Stann controlling the position easily from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Dan Stann showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stann, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
